Second Half Blues Deny Blue Streaks In 2-1 Defeat To Centre College

Kelly Kertis got John Carroll on the board late in the first half
Box Score On a night where offense was at a premium for the John Carroll women's soccer team, one score on just two shots on goal was not enough to hold off host Centre College in a 2-1 loss on Friday night in Danville, Kentucky.

Box Score

One of JCU's shots on goal was converted by sophomore Kelly Kertis, whose boot beat Centre's Megan Foley to give the Blue & Gold a 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute.

After intermission, the Colonels fired back with two second half goals, both of which took place in the game's final 12 minutes.  The winner was knocked in by Morgan Collins in the 87th minute, denying JCU an opportunity for a tie or extra time rally.

Centre College had 16 shots to John Carroll's eight and recorded six more shots on goal.

The Blue Streaks will look for their first 2012 win against Transylvania at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 1 in their second game at the Centre Showcase.
