A few times this season, the John Carroll women's soccer team had experienced second half disappointments. Wednesday afternoon, the Blue Streaks experienced a second half explosion.

The Blue Streaks dominated in every aspect over Oberlin in their 4-0 victory at Don Shula Stadium.

Kay Akerly stole the spotlight with her first career hat trick. Of her  12 shots, three ended up in the back of the goal.

In the first half, Akerly was able to score her first goal in the 15th minute. it would be the lone tally of the opening 45 minutes as, despite a 15-0 edge in shots taken, JCU led by just a single point.

The barrage continued in the second half, and Akerly would break through again in the 61st minute, followed by her third and final goal coming in the 81st minute. This was just the second career multiple goal game for the sophomore, with the only other ocasion taking place against Baldwin Wallace last season when she tallied a pair of goals.

Nicki Bohrer was also able to impact today's game with a goal late in the second half during the 84th minute. She also assisted on Akerly's first goal.

Throughout the game the streaks tested Oberlins goalkeeper Kate Frost,  forcing her to make 15 saves. The Streaks succeeded in getting off 43 shots with 19 of them ending up on goal.

With the win, the Blue Streaks improve to 2-3, while Oberlin moves to 0-4-1 in 2012.
