Women's Swimming & Diving Sends Out Seniors With Dominating Victory

Senior Megan Carrig won two individual events against the Terriers
The Blue Streaks scored points early and often on Senior Night at the Johnson Natatorium, bookending a successful outing with wins in the 400 Medley Relay and the 200 Yard Breaststroke to wrap up a 137-79 victory over Hiram College on Friday evening.

To open the dual meet, JCU's relay teams finished first, second, and third in the 400 Medley Relay, with the group consisting of Julia Adams, Lindsey Fano, Rachael Libertin, and Karyn Adams touching first with a time of 4:12.74.

The momentum continued throughout the night.

Megan Carrig, one the seniors honored during the meet, won the 200 Yard IM and the 200 Yard Breaststroke in her final performance in University Heights.

Libertin grabbed the 1,000 Yard Freestyle win with a time (11:22.11) that was 14 seconds faster than the second place finisher.

Senior Julia Adams also had a big night, with victories in the 200 Free and 200 Back.  Her younger sister, Karyn, took the top spot in the 50 Free and finished second only to teammate Victoria Watson in the 100 Free.

Also a swimming champ on Friday was Katii Sheffield, who claimed victory in the 500 Free.

Representing the John Carroll divers well was Danielle Ketterer, who placed first in the 1 Meter (168.60) and 3 Meter (161.25) competitions.

The Blue Streaks will continue their 2012-13 season on Saturday, January 26 at Baldwin Wallace, before gearing up for the OAC Championships at the University of Akron on February 14-16.
