JCU Men’s Lacrosse on Win Streak After Rocky Start

The John Carroll Unviersity Men's lacrosse team started the 2013 season with a lengthy road trip to Missouri playing some tough competition. The first game against #24 Washington University- St. Louis was a game of missed opportunities for the Blue Streaks falling 11-6. The following day was more of the same losing a 9-8 contest to Lindenwood-Belleville. The blue streaks returned home and split two games over a weekend against #23 St. Andrews College (L 12-11) and Lawrence Tech (W 8-3), the first divisional game of the season. After beginning a weekend road trip to Michigan with a 7-6 loss to #25 Siena Heights University the Blue Streaks fell to 1-4 on the season.

But that's where things started to change for JCU. The road trip continued to Northwood University for the second division matchup of the year where JCU dominated from start to finish in an 11-5 win. Two more road games led to two more wins, 12-4 over Carnagie Melon and 8-1 over Toledo, as the Blue Streaks quickly got back to the .500 mark and took the lead in the CCLA North Division standings.

Leading the way offensive has been sophomore attackman David Brill (15G, 17A) and senior attackman Ryan Cox (15G, 8A). On the defensive half of the field Goalie Mike Burgos has been strong with a .658 save percentage and freshman defender Jack MacLean has led the team with 31 ground balls.

The team seems to be coming together under first year head coach Brandon Sallee. The Blue Streaks look to continue to create a buzz around campus as they play their final three games of the season at home.
