Box Score Things had been going very well for the John Carroll women's soccer team over the last several matches, so leave it to Mother nature to toss a little adversity in the way of the Blue Streaks on a Saturday afternoon in Western Pennsylvania.
A steady pouring of rain and a steady assault by the Grove City left JCU a little worse for the wear after 120 minutes, but the Blue Streaks were able to gut out a 1-1 draw against the host Wolverines at Grove City College Field.
The two teams combined for 40 shots on the day, but only two found the back of the net.
After a number of close calls, Groe City finally got past JCU keeper
Nicole Grys, as Becky McManus took a pass from Chelsea Tarolli and fed the net for a 1-0 lead in the 67 minute.
The Blue Streaks -- who have never lost at Grove City in what is now six matches -- were able to find the equalizer less than ten minutes later. A series of passes from
Genny Goergen and
Preston Mendel found
Nicki Bohrer , who buried a shot for her second goal of the season.
In the two extra periods, the Wolverines and the Blue Streaks each attempted four shot but neither could find the golden goal.
Grove City had the slight edge in shots (23-17) and corner kicks (6-2) in the match.
Gryz had a career-high ten saves for the Blue Streaks, whose record moved to 3-2-2 on the year.
