Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Late First Half Scoring Spree Propels JCU Men's Soccer To Eighth Consecutive Win

The winds, rain and sloppy conditions lasted throughout the match. The scoring covered five minutes.

Two Justin Miller goals in the final seven minutes of the first half proved to be the difference maker as John Carroll survived by a 2-1 count against Heidelberg University Tuesday afternoon in Tiffin, Ohio.

Miller and reigning Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week Brian Potocnik were the unstoppable combo on this afternoon. Potocnik found Miller for a breakaway goal to open the scoring in the 39th minute, then fed Miller a cross from the right side which Miller deposited for John Carroll's second goal in the 42nd minute.

For Miller, it was his third and fourth goals of the season.

John Carroll was hoping to take its 2-0 lead into the locker room, but Heidelberg -- which played with the wind for the first half -- got one back in the 44th minute when Alexis Mendoza popped in a goal off a free kick from Andres Isea.

John Carroll controlled play in the second half when it played with the wind, but could not build on its lead.  As it turned out, the Blue Streaks did not need to.

JCU won the battle of shots (17-10) in winning its eighth conseciutive game. The victory moves John Carroll's record to 11-3 overall and 4-0 in the OAC.

Heidelberg drops to 6-5-3 overall and 2-1-1 in league play.
