Kay Akerly put home the game winner with 41 seconds remaining in the second overtime to lift John Carroll (11-5-1, 4-2-1 OAC) to a 2-1 win over Capital (10-3-3, 4-1-2 OAC) inside Don Shula Stadium on Saturday night.

Akerly, broke free from the Crusader defense and beat Capital goalkeeper Kim Letich. It marked Akerly's 34th career goal and fifth this year. Freshman
Maggie Reilly assisted on the game-winner.

The Blue Streaks netted the equalizer in the 60th minute.
Danielle Sharbaugh scored her fifth goal of the year.
Justina Fortson, a freshman, set up the goal. The Chagrin Falls, Ohio product headed a ball in the box with Sharbaugh swooping in the goal.

John Carroll had to overcome a quick score by Capital on senior night. The Crusaders' Maura Fortino headed in a free kick in the third minute for the game's lone goal.

Capital's Claire Quinn ripped a shot in the 99th minute of the first overtime which came close to going in. Senior
Haley McDonald was up for the test leaping and punching the ball over the net.

McDonald warded off another Crusader scoring opportunity before the Blue Streaks had to fend off two corner kicks in the final two minutes of the first extra session.

McDonald would finish with nine saves.
