It was a combination of getting some injured swimmers back in the pool along with a numbers advantage, but the John Carroll men's swimming & diving team was appreciative of finding its way into the win column Saturday, rolling to a 123-38 victory over Defiance at Johnson Natatorium.
ResultsCorey Kehm in the 1000 (10:58.37),
Brian Hulseman in the 200 (1:49.22) and
Stephen Attewell (23.01) helped John Carroll sweep the freestyle events.
John Scantling swam the fastest time in the 200 IM (2:08.40) as did Hulseman in the 100 Fly (55.31).
Attewell won again in the 100 Free (50.59), while
Gabe Nock was triumphant in the 100 Back, coming in at 59.64.
Ben parker won the 500 Free in 5:04.98, as did
Michael Goggins in the 100 Breast (1:04.82)
Perhaps the highlight of the afternoon was
John Liber earning his first qualifying score for the NCAA Division III Diving regional championships. By exceeding 425 points with his final 11-five tally of 428.48, Liber needs one more qualifying score during the season to earn an invitation to the regional meet in Chicago on February 28 and March 1, 2015.
With the victory, John Carroll improves to 1-3 on the season and 1-2 in league action.
