In going 3-1 at the Bob Del Rosa Duals to open the season, the Blue Streaks gave their mentor
Kerry Volkmann his 300th-win at John Carroll.

John Carroll picked up the milestone win for its mentor with a 34-11 win over Niagara County Community College.

Three Blue Streaks went 4-0 on the day in
Sal Corrao (133 pounds),
Thomas McNulty (157 pounds) and
Terner Gott (165 pounds).

Dual 1 – St. Catharine CollegeJohn Carroll opened the day with a 35-7 win over St. Catharine College.
Â
McNulty started his day with a fall at 1:45 at 157 pounds. Gott followed with a 17-0 technical fall at 165 pounts.

Steven Schmitz (decision, 10-4) and
Todd Gaydosh (decision, 8-1) picked up wins at 184 and 197 pounds respectively.

Corrao (133 pounds),
John Connick (141 pounds) and
Dan Mirman (149 pounds) picked up wins via forfeits.

Dual 2 – AlmaThe Blue Streaks suffered their first setback of the season against Alma. The Scots took the 30-9 win.

Corrao, McNulty and Gott were JCU's three winners against the Scots.
Â
Corrao took a 10-4 decision over Zachary Case. McNulty (13-8) and Gott (9-4) also both won via decisions.

Dual 3 – Mt. St. JosephJCU rebounded quickly in its third dual of the day taking a 44-9 win over Mt. St. Joseph.

The Blue Streaks won in every weight class except for 125 pounds and 184 pounds.
Corrao recorded the lone fall of the dual for the Blue Streaks pinning Charlie Heyob at 2:55.

JCU received a technical fall at 197 pounds with Gaydosh taking the 18-2 win.
Tyler Hardtke recorded a 12-5 decision at 174 pounds.

The Blue Streaks won via forfeits in five weight classes.

Dual 4 – Niagara County Community CollegeJohn Carroll clinched the milestone victory with a 34-11 win over Niagara County Community College.

The Blue Streaks trailed after the 141-pound match but did not drop another weight class.

McNulty put the Blue Streaks up for good at 157 pounds with a fall over Jude Gardner at 5:12. Corrao (decision, 8-3), Mirman (decision, 11-7), Hardtke (decision, 5-3) and
Kyle Kratman (decision, 7-3) all picked up non-forfeit wins.

Schmitz (184 pounds) and Gaydosh (197 pounds) both won via forfeit.

Claude Sharer ClassicSeveral Blue Streak reserves competed in the Claude Sharer Classic. Two Blue Streaks took first place in their respective weight classes.

Blake Dixon captured first at 149 pounds winning in overtime one 10-7 over Baldwin Wallace's Rodney Martin.
Danny McNamara placed first at 184 pounds. McNamara defeated Baldwin Wallace's Paul Rallis 15-0 via a technical fall to claim first-place.

The wrestling team will be back in action at CWRU with a 7 p.m. dual match on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
