In the world of the theater, an ensemble cast is where principal actors and performers are assigned roughly equal amounts of importance and stage time in a dramatic production.
This ensemble approach has been working quite well in recent weeks for the John Carroll men's soccer team, and tonight's match at Wilmington was yet another example.
The Blue Streaks built a 3-0 lead and cruised to a 3-1 victory over the Quakers for its fourth road win of the season. The victory also pushed the Blue Streaks' overall record to 7-3-1 and their league mark to 2-1.
True to form, three different players tallied the goals for JCU this evening. Over the last five matches, ten different players have scored the 16 goals posted by the Blue & Gold.
Tonight's net finders were
Kevin Pachuta and
Jimmy Mattina in the opening half, and
Michael Melfi in the second.
Dalton Browsky and
Shaq Bridges collected assists.
Liam McIntosh needed to make just one save for the win as John Carroll controlled matters throughout, holding a significant edge in shots taken (19-6).
