A quote attributed to William Arthur Ward seems applicable to the recent fortunes of the John Carroll women's soocer team: "The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails".
The Blue Streaks have switched from optimists to realists in their last two games, and the latest proof was a 4-0 road win at Marietta Friday.
After dropping six consecutive matches and falling to 0-3 in conference play, John Carroll has adjusted thesails in two road matches this week. Tuesday brought a hard fought and well earned 1-0 win at Heidelberg.
On Friday at Marietta, the Blue Streaks put in four goals in the opening half and cruised to victory. The win improves their record to 4-10-1 overall and 2-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
Bailey Fischer and Maria Polplis each scored a goal, while
Preston Mendel scored twice and
Dre Regrut netted two assists.
Rhianna Guarnera and
Taylor Tercek each played 45 minutes and contributed two saves to the shutout effort. The Blue Streaks finished the match with a 24-8 shots advantage.
