Men's Lacrosse Kick Starts First Win Streak Of Year After Triumph In Elmhurst

The John Carroll University men's lacrosse team has not had a win streak yet this season. That changed Saturday.

Behind three goals in each period, John Carroll cruised to a 12-6 win over host Elmhurst on Saturday afternoon.

John Carroll struck first less than four minutes into the game. Declan O'Grady found Keegan Flinter. It marked the fourth goal and fourth assist of the year for the duo respectively.

The Blue Streaks added two more goals in the opening 15 minutes to jump out to a 3-0 lead. It was the "Ryan" show. The first goal came off the stick of Ryan Crater. Ryan Kelly, who assisted on Crater's goal found the back of the net with 6:51 remaining in the opening stanza.

Collin Rice had a hand in all three second period goals. The freshman scored the first two markers of the period before setting up Declan O'Grady. For O'Grady, the sophomore netted his team-leading 14th goal while Rice record his team-best eighth helper of the year.

John Carroll responded to Elmhurst's second goal of the contest with a trio in the third period. Flinter scored his second goal of the game to spark the answer. MacGregor Roberts netted his first collegiate goal on a man-up opportunity with 5:43 remaining in the third quarter. Logan Calhoun closed the scoring for the frame.

Flinter, Connor Pike, and Brandan McNicholas scored for JCU in the fourth. It marked Pike's and McNicholas' first collegiate goals.

The Blue Streaks outshot the Blue Jays 38-34 and led in ground balls 28-26.

John Carroll improved to 3-3 with the win. Elmhurst fell to 2-4.
