John Carroll was hoping for a bounce back weekend at Ohio Wesleyan after a tough stay in Wisconsin the week before.
As it turned out, there were very few bounces to be had at the Battling Bishops Tournament Friday and Saturday in Delaware, Ohio.
After an opening round victory over Alma, JCU dropped consecutive matches against Defiance, Hanover and host Ohio Wesleyan to finish the weekend 1-3 and with an overall record of 4-9.
In the Alma match,
Leah Switalski and Sarah orlandi combined for 32 kills as JCU took out the Scots in four sets (25-20, 25-15, 28-30, 25-23).
The weekend turned for the worse when John Carroll fell to unheralded Defiance in the second match Friday. Definace won the fifth set 15-12 to avenge a sweep at the hands of the Blue Streaks earlier this season at the Calvin Tournament.
The Blue Streaks lost in three to Hanover and in four to Ohio Wesleyan on day two.
Kit O'Shaughnessy was named to the all-tournament team. She tallied 132 assists, 26 kills, 70 digs, eight blocks and two aces over four tournament matches.
