Box Score After falling behind by two goals in the first half, the John Carroll women's soccer team did not fold.

Essentially, the Blue Streaks battled uphill for the final 86 minutes of Tuesday night's Ohio Athletic Conference quarterfinal round match at Mount Union, but their comeback fell one goal short. 

The sixth-seeded Blue Streaks lost to the third-seed Purple Raiders, 2-1, in Alliance, Ohio. The playoff loss puts John Carroll's final 2016 record at 7-7-6. 

Mount Union scored first on a goal by Maggie O'Donnell 3:21 into the contest. Katie Goedecke earned the assist. Twenty minutes later, the Purple Raiders struck again, with O'Donnell again scoring off a Goedecke assist.

JCU took nine shots to UMU's 10 in the first half, including five on goal. Neither team attempted a corner in the first 45 minutes.

A glimmer of hope came off the foot of senior Dre Regrut in the 48th minute, as she buried her seventh goal of the season to cut the host team's lead in half at 2-1.

JCU put nine total shots on goal in the contest, but could not find the back of the net a second time for the equalizer.
