Mount Union scored first on a goal by Maggie O'Donnell 3:21 into the contest. Katie Goedecke earned the assist. Twenty minutes later, the Purple Raiders struck again, with O'Donnell again scoring off a Goedecke assist.
JCU took nine shots to UMU's 10 in the first half, including five on goal. Neither team attempted a corner in the first 45 minutes.
