John Carroll tried to take advantage of good weather Wednesday afternoon, but could not take advantage of Allegheny pitching. Three Gators combined to strikr out 12 and allow just four hits as the Blue Streaks fell, 7-0, in a non-conference nine in Meadville, Pennsylvania.
Eight John Carroll pitchers made an appearance this afternoon, starting withÂ
Brandon Maddern. Allegheny would score all the runs it needed in the bottom of the first as Maddern allowed four runs in one inning of work.
Nathaniel Wenson followed, allowing one unearned run.
Billy Ritter then entered the contest and induced three ground outs.
Mark Pisanello surrendered just one run in the fourth, and was followed by the trio of Joe Shaffer,
Joseph Franke, Steve Virost, who combined to allow no runs on just two hits rom the fifth through the seventh inning.
The Gators would finish off their day with two runs in the eighth to nail down their first win over JCU at their home park since May 4, 2010.
Patrick Keohane reached base safely three times (two walks and one hit) whileÂ
David Crowley doubled to left in the seventh to mark the Blue Streaks lone extra base hit of the afternoon.
John Carroll, now 5-4 on the year, will travel to Kokomo, Indiana, on Saturday, March 12, to play a doubleheader against Manchester University.
