After heading south to avoid the winter weather, the John Carroll women's lacrosse team did not disappoint in their Ohio Athletic Conference Opener. 

The Blue Streaks (7-2, 1-0 OAC) scored the game's first six goals, and 16 of the first 17 goals. The Quakers fall to 2-8, and 0-1 in conference play. 

Jillian Millar was the high goal scorer with five; Gina Vilack scored four, adding two assists. Grace Curatolo added two goals of her own, as did Marielle St. Amand and Mary Jo Murino. 

Rachel Routzong scored an unassisted goal for Wilmington with 9:01 left in the first half; the Quakers did not score again until five minutes into the second half. St. Amand put an exclamation point on the first half with two goals in the final five minutes. 

In goal, Caroline Smith earned her seventh victory, saving two shots. JCU was aggressive on offense, firing 30 shots on goal to Wilmington's 6. The Blue and Gold set the tone, winning 20 of 25 draw controls and causing 13 turnovers. 

The Blue Streaks have scored 18 or more goals in all but one victory this year.
