Box Score John Carroll women's lacrosse dropped their second consecutive game Saturday afternoon, falling to Capital University by a score of 10-7 in Columbus.
Gina Vilsack scored four goals, and
Marielle St. Amand scored two.
Caroline Smith recorded 12 saves.
Jill Millard had the other goal for JCU.
Kim Hoerauf scored four times and Kara Hines found the back of the net three times for Capital. Three other Crusaders scored. Capital outshot JCU, 26-15.
In the first half, Capital (8-3, 3-0 OAC) took a 7-2 lead thanks to three goals from Hoerauf. Five different Crusaders scored in the first thirty minutes. JCU (7-4, 1-2 OAC) got scores from Millard and Vilsack;
Alexis Guage had an assist.
Capital won more draw controls, 7-3, and won 17 ground balls. In goal, Smith had seven saves.
JCU outscored the Crusaders, 5-2, in the second half. St. Amand got on the board with a goal at 20:55, and Vilsack buried three goals.
St. Amand drilled a free position shot with 3:13 left, and JCU called a timeout. The Blue Streaks did not get a shot off in the final minutes, and Hines scored a goal with eight seconds remaining.
Next up for JCU is a matchup with Muskingum University on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in Shula Stadium.
