Women's Lacrosse Garners 7 Streaks on All-NCAC Team

The Blue Streaks enjoyed a successful season, the first in the NCAC

CLEVELAND -- Seven Blue Streaks have been named to the All-North Coast Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Team.

After an amazing inaugural season in the NCAC, seven members of the JCU Women's Lacrosse made the cut. All seven played an integral role this year in a strong season that ended in a tournament semifinal appearance as the #4 seed. 

Anna Vaccarelli, Mary Wymard, Anna Spitzer, Riley Knapp, Josephine Lawler, Abby Cassidy, and Jill McDonnell have won All-NCAC recognition. 

Sophomore attacker Anna Vaccarelli made the First-Team Attack list after notching 29 goals, 29 assists, and 21 ground balls on the season. The Mentor native has been exceptional for the Blue Streaks and is fifth in the NCAC for points per game and assists per game and 16th for goals per game. The Business major finished the year ranked first on the team in points and second for goals and assists.

Junior defender Mary Wymard earned First Team Defense honors after an extraordinary season. The Gibsonia, Pennsylvania native tallied 42 ground balls and 29 caused turnovers on the season, both tops on the team. The Sports Leadership major stands fourth in the NCAC for caused turnovers per game and sixth in ground balls per game. 

Senior attack Anna Spitzer secured Second Team status after being a force on the field. The Marcellus, New York native notched 18 goals, 38 assists, and 26 ground balls on the season. The Nursing major rates third in the NCAC for assists per game and 11th for points per game. 

Midfielder Riley Knapp secured Second Team status after tallying 21 goals, 34 groundballs, 22 caused turnovers, and 60 draw controls during the season. The junior Exercise Science major ranks seventh in the NCAC for caused turnovers, fifth for draw controls, and 14th for ground balls. 

Senior goalie Josephine Lawler earned Second Team honors in her final season as a Blue Streak. The Hudson native tallied 82 saves with a save percentage of .434. The Political Science major sits fourth in the NCAC for goals allowed, fifth for saves percentage, and seventh for saves per game. 

Sophomore midfielder Abby Cassidy was named to the Third Team after a strong second season with the Blue Streaks. The Medina native accumulated 26 goals, 21 groundballs, and 58 draw controls on the year. The Business Marketing major rates eighth in the NCAC for draw controls per game. 

Junior defender Jill McDonnell earned Third Team recognition. The star tallied 30 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers during the season. The Hamburg, New York native stands 12th in the NCAC for caused turnovers per game.
