Multiple rallies came up just short in New Concord, OH as the John Carroll Blue Streaks dropped an 86-78 decision to the Muskingum Fighting Muskies on Saturday.
Katlyn Spahar led the way for the Blue Streaks with 21 points and six rebounds while
Shmoo Pryor added 16 points and nine rebounds but the Muskingum bench who had a 20-point advantage to JCU. Spahar shot 9-of-11 from the line.
Anne Principe scored 10 off the bench for John Carroll. The sophomore made the one three-pointer for the Blue Streaks and drained three free throws.
JCU falls to 5-14, and 3-8 in conference. Muskingum advances to 10-9, and 6-6 in the OAC.
The Blue Streaks held a 6-5 lead, and closed the score to 17-14, but didn't take back the advantage until a pair of
Chelbi Graham free throws with 18 seconds left in the half.
John Carroll led 37-34 at the half but rebounding was the defining factor for the game as the Muskies outrebounded the Blue Streaks 53-38.
Muskingum opened the half with a 13-0 advantage until a Spahar layup at 5:20. JCU rallied to take a 65-63 lead with six minutes to play, but the Muskies again regained the advantage. A
Shmoo Pryor layup tied the game with 3:09 to go, but a Muskies 10-0 run eventually put the game away.
