The John Carroll women's soccer team upended the Marietta Pioneers, 5-0, for their fourth shutout of the season on Saturday afternoon.
That was only part of the story.
For the first time in program history, the Blue Streaks have opened Ohio Athletic Conference play with three consecutive shutouts. JCU tied Wilmington, 0-0, to open the schedule last Saturday, and then blanked Heidelberg on Wednesday, 2-0.
The Blue Streaks now stand at 6-3-2 (2-0-1 OAC), while Marietta falls to 5-5-2 (1-2 OAC) on the season.Â
John Carroll dominated the first half, outshooting the Pioneers 12-0 and recording three goals.
Katie O'Donnell scored the first Blue Streak goal to get John Carroll on the board at the 9:56 mark, thanks to an assist from
Taylor Newhart. The goal was also her first of the season.
Less than 10 minutes later, O'Donnell helped the John Carroll scoring efforts again when she connected withÂ
Rachel Braunegg, who found the back of the net and made the score 2-0.Â
Before the half came to an end,
Bailey Fischer also added to the score in the 28th minute to give the Blue Streaks a 3-0 lead.Â

Katie O'Donnell were awarded with assists.Â
The final two goals of the game came in rapid succession.
Justina Fortson netted her third goal of the season at the 50th minute, while
Jaclyn Audino followed with her first goal of the season that resulted from a penalty kick at the 51:04 mark to secure the 5-0 win.
With the win, Rhianna Guarnera's record now stands at 6-3-2 (2-0-1 OAC) on the season, matching the team record.
The Blue Streaks will next travel to Berea, Ohio to take on the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets on Tuesday, October 10. Game time is set for 7 p.m.Â
