After a strong defensive effort, a late goal would prove to be the difference in Bexley, Ohio.

#3 John Carroll University (11-6-2, 6-2-1 OAC) took on #2 Capital (10-7-1, 7-2-0 OAC) on the road in the OAC Tournament Semifinals. Both teams would be kept off the score sheet for 88 minutes and seven seconds until the Crusaders found the net. That goal would be the lone tally in the game as the Blue Streaks fell to the Crusaders 1-0.

As the rain fell on a cold night at Bernlohr Stadium, both teams would have their chances in the first half. Both defenses stood tall be letting nothing get by. The teams would go into the halftime break 0-0.Jaclyn Audino, Lexie Keller, and Bailey Fischer would register the three shots for JCU in the first half with the shots by Keller and Fischer on goal. Goalkeeper Rhianna Guarnera made five saves in the opening 45 minutes of play.

The second half would continue to be characterized by defense. The Blue Streaks would fend off the attacks from the Crusaders. Keller, Audino, and Rachel Braunegg would try to get the offense going with all of them registering a shot on goal, part of a six-shot second half for JCU.

Early in the 89th minute, Jordan Fike would break the deadlock with her fifth goal of the season, and the assist is credited to Carlee Murry. With a little under two minutes, to play, John Carroll looked to find an equalizer. However, Capital would hold on to end JCU's OAC Title hopes.

The Blue Streaks finished the game with a total of nine shots with five on goal. Guarnera added six more saves in the second half to give her 11 saves for the match, which is a game-high for the 2017 season.
