The first dual competition of the 2017-18 season showed progression, but not satisfaction in the end result.
 
The John Carroll University wrestling team fell to Baldwin Wallace University on Friday evening, 42-3, at the Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea, Ohio.

Junior Jarrad Lasko was JCU's lone win of the evening, coming at the 149-pound division. Lasko defeated Nicholas Sbracco of BW by a score of 6-2, earning the three-point decision victory.
 
Tonight was Baldwin Wallace's first competition of the season, while JCU competed in the Adrian Invitational this past weekend, placing second.
 
The Yellow Jackets have won the Ohio Athletic Conference each of the last two seasons, and start their 2017-18 season and OAC slate with a dual victory.
 
The Blue Streaks then faced two tough losses after Lasko's 149-pound victory, falling by scores of 4-1 and 6-2 at 174 and 184 pounds, respectively.
 
Baldwin Wallace finished the evening by winning six straight matches, from the 157-pound class through the 285-pound division.
 
Up next, the Blue Streaks will stay at home and welcome five other teams to the DeCarlo Varsity Center for the 2017 JCU Duals. The first match is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19.
