Blue Streaks Drop OAC Meeting With Yellow Jackets

John Carroll University lost just their second Ohio Athletic Conference game of the year in a 12-7 decision to Baldwin Wallace University.
 
Grace Curatolo and Gina Vilsack led the way for the Blue Streaks with two goals each. Meghan Harte, Colleen Grombala and Brooke McQuinn each added five ground balls in the conference meeting.
 
John Carroll made the first addition to the score sheet when McQuinn added her 24th goal of the year early in the first half. Baldwin Wallace would respond with back-to-back goals to take an early lead. Curatolo then added a goal to even the score at 2-2 with 16:36 to play in the first half.
 
The first half featured three sets of back-to-back goals from the visiting Yellow Jackets that were all separated by Blue Streaks' scores. McQuinn, Curatolo and Grombala all registered goals in the first half of play, but the Blue Streaks trailed 6-3 at the half.
 
Vilsack and the Blue Streaks opened the second half with a goal, bringing John Carroll within two of the Yellow Jackets' lead. Baldwin Wallace would then rattle off three unanswered goals. A Vilsack goal would end the scoring streak from the Yellow Jackets at the 17:44 mark of the second quarter, but there was no comeback in the cards for the Blue Streaks.
 
John Carroll won the ground ball battle, 28-16, and outshot BW, 31-23. The Blue Streaks notched 12 draw controls to 9 for Baldwin Wallace. 

The Yellow Jackets would go on to win, 12-7.
 
With the loss, John Carroll moves to 7-4 overall with a 2-2 mark in the conference. John Carroll will now head on the road for the next two conference meetings. Muskingum will be first on that two game trip when the Blue Streaks head down to New Concord, Ohio on Friday, Apr. 14. Ohio Northern will wrap up the away portion of the regular season schedule for the Blue Streaks in a Saturday, Apr. 22 meeting.
