The John Carroll Blue Streaks faced off against the Yellow Jackets of Baldwin Wallace Tuesday night in Berea, Ohio, hoping to snap a five-match losing streak to their crosstown rivals. The early season success of the lower weights was key to that hope.
But when the early matches went against the number 25 ranked Blue Streaks, all the momentum belonged to the host team, and the number 10 ranked Yellow Jackets would roll to a 35-6 victory in Ohio Athletic Conference action.
Baldwin Wallace, with five seniors in the line-up, won the first six matches of the night (one by fall, two by technical fall) to push ahead by a score of 25-0. Â
Five of the matchups tonight featured wrestlers ranked inside the top 10 in division three wrestling and a wrestler who has yet to be beaten this year.
Andrew Perelka for the Blue Streaks lost the first collegiate match in his career after a 12-0 start at the 125 weight class to Chad Craft, 7-3Â
Jarrod Brezovec, the number ten ranked wrestler for the 141 weight class lost a tight 5-4 decision to Tanner McHugh.
Number five ranked Stanley Bleich for Baldwin Wallace beat
Jarrad Lasko in the 149 lbs. division.

Luke Reicosky could not overpower the number one ranked wrestler in the nation for the 165 pound weight class that the Yellow Jackets would send out in Anthony Arroyo. Â Justin Ransom for Baldwin Wallace was ranked 10th in the nation for the 174 pound weight class but wrestled up against
Vittorio Santillo. This was Santillo's first match this year after placing in last years regionals.
Also ranking inside the top ten was Zeckary Lehman for Baldwin Wallace. Â The number 6th ranked wrestler in the 184 lbs. Division wrestled up in the 197 weight class to beat John Carroll's
Russ Porter.
The lone victories tonight for the Blue Streaks were from sophomore
Sam Gross in the 174 pound division and freshman
Luca Santillo in the heavyweight division. Gross scored a 13-6 triumph over junior Adam Green, while Santillo outlasted senior James Ritchie by a 10-8 count.Â
John Carroll is now 6-1 overall and 1-1 in the OAC.
The next time the Blue Streaks hit the mat will be at the Rochester institute of Technology Invitational on Saturday, December 1st. Â Then John Carroll will return home to face the Vikings of Cleveland State for their next dual meet on December 9th at 3 p.m.
