The John Carroll University men's track and field team will travel to Ada, OH to take part in the OAC Championships this weekend on the campus of Ohio Northern University.
Head coach Kyle Basista and company have big goals in mind, considering this is the best combined track and field program the school has ever seen. The Blue Streaks were just recently ranked by the USTFCCA as the #24 program in Division III. It's also important to note that the men's team has finished in third place for the last five outdoor seasons.

Expectations are certainly high, but the success does not have Basista surprised at all. "We expect a lot from our athletes. They work hard and deserve every accolade they get but they also understand that we never want to be complacent. We continually push them to achieve more, both on and off the field."
At the forefront of this year's wave of athletes is Hayden Snow, who is coming off a record-breaking time in the 100-meter dash (10.67 seconds) at the All-Ohio Division III Championships at Ohio Wesleyan. His long jump mark of 7.34 meters at the same meet placed him among the best in the nation, too. Snow is also effective in the high jump, an event where he leaped 1.90 meters at the Emory Classic.
Nick Colby and J.J. Bost spearhead the team in the field events, with Colby having personal bests of 50.00 meters in the discus throw and 51.15 meters in the hammer throw, and Bost having personal bests of 15.57 meters in the shot put and 47.06 meters in the hammer throw.
On the track, the contributions of Matt Andrews, Ross Martin and Ryan Scanlon have been at the forefront of the long-distance discussion. Andrews recently set the school record with a 30:24.89 time in the 10,000-meter run, good for 11th overall in the Division III this spring. Scanlon also made news at the Bucknell Bison Classic by breaking his school record in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:55.80. Matt Hallgarth notched a new personal best in the 10,000-meter run (14:36.07) on March 31.
Rounding out the roster is Jacob Fritsch and R. Lilly in the javelin, sprinters Deven Ward, Bobby Fogle and hurdler John Iannetta.
The action will begin at 12 p.m. with the men's discus throw.
