Super Bowl LIII will be the 22nd edition of the big game to feature a connection to John Carroll University.

This will also be the third time that John Carroll will be represented on both sidelines.

Six alumni serve on the coaching staff or in the front office for New England: Nick Caserio '98 (Director of Player Personnel), Josh McDaniels '99 (Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks), Jerry Schuplinski '99, '02G (Assistant Quarterbacks Coach), Dave Ziegler '01, '07G (Director of Pro Scouting), Nick Caley '06 (Tight Ends), and D.J. Debick '13 (Area Scout).

For the Los Angeles Rams, former Blue Streaks defensive coordinator Chris Shula is an assistant coach who works with the linebackers. The grandson of legendary former Blue Streak Don Shula '51 spent one season (2014) as the leader of a John Carroll defense, helping the Blue Streaks reach the NCAA Division III national quarterfinals. 

Super Bowl LIII is scheduled to be played on February 3, 2019, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m., and the game will air on the CBS television network.
