John Carroll continued conference play against crosstown rival Baldwin Wallace at home on Wednesday evening, where they looked to end a two-game losing streak in an overtime battle.
The game was slow to start, remaining scoreless through the first 30 minutes of play, until
Jaclyn Audino found the back of the net on a penalty kick to put the Blue Streaks ahead 1-0.
The Blue Streaks maintained the lead through the final 15 minutes of the half and entered halftime leading the Yellow Jackets. John Carroll out shot Baldwin Wallace 4-3 throughout the first half.Â
Baldwin Wallace came into the second half hot, answering with a goal from Brandi Filippi, 15 minutes into the half, which tied the game at 1-1.
Despite John Carroll outshooting Baldwin Wallace again in the second half, the game remained tied through the 90th minute of regulation and required extra time to determine a winner.
JCU had a great opportunity in the 95th minute to win the match, but Audino's shot which had beaten the keeper high in the box was cleared at the last possible second by a BW defender.
John Carroll moves to 7-5-3 on the season and 3-2-1 in conference play, securing the fourth place spot in the OAC. JCU continues conference play at Marietta College at 7:00 pm on Saturday. Â
