John Carroll Tallies Season High Goal Total In Rolling To First Conference Victory

Spreading the wealth.

Six different scorers joined in on the offensive onslaught that powered a 6-0 victory for John Carroll University (8-2-1, 1-0-0 OAC) over the hosting Muskingum University Fighting Muskies (7-3-1, 0-1-0 OAC).

The season high six goals was a result of overall offensive dominance from the Blue Streaks' road contest. The visitors led in shots (22-6), shots on goal (13-3) and corners (10-2). A combined shutout for the goalkeeping duo of Connor Robinson and Connor Gynn made sure the impressive offense performance didn't go to waste and secured the team's first Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) win of the year.

The first half featured a flurry of scoring.

Lawrence Cersosimo opened the scorebook with an eighth minute tally. Mitchell Kotheimer provided the assist that gave the visiting Blue Streaks a 1-0 advantage.

Nicholas Ruggiero and Justin LaFountain provided some insurance with scoring tallies in the 17th and 35th minutes, respectively, to give the visiting Blue Streaks a 3-0 lead heading into the break.

Muskingum's first half follies were capped with a red card to Drew Wise in the 45th minute, forcing the hosts to play with 10 men for the second half.

John Carroll took advantage of the extra man early in the half with a pair on unassisted goals.

Jared Ianiro added the first of the two un-assisted tallies in the 51st minute. Brenden Swann then padded the advantage in the 65th minute, giving the visitors a 5-0 lead.

Swann played an assisting role to Cooper Bizjak's 71st minute goal, adding to John Carroll's lead. The sixth and final goal from the visitors came from the sixth different scorer.

JCU stays on the road for a meeting with the University of Mount Union Purple Raiders Wednesday, October 9, in Alliance, Ohio.
