JCU Men's Soccer will host the first two rounds of the 2019 NCAA Division III Championships at Don Shula Stadium
John Carroll wrapped up its season winning the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament and claiming the league's automatic bid into the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship with its 1-0 victory against Otterbein on Saturday night.
Shortly after 1:30 p.m. today, the Blue Streaks learned they would be hosts of the opening rounds for the third consecutive year.
The Blue Streaks will face off against Washington & Jefferson on Saturday, November 16, at 2:00 p.m., while Kalamazoo and Centre will face off at 4:30 p.m. The winners of Saturday's matches will face off in the second round on Sunday, November 17, at 3:00 p.m.Â
Ticket prices are $8 for general admission both days (no all session tickets will be sold). Additionally, tickets are $6 for senior citizens and students, and $3 for children ages three to 12. Ticket windows will open one hour before the start of the first match Saturday and for Sunday's match.

Don Shula Stadium on the University Heights campus.

John Carroll (17-2-2) has now appeared in the NCAA Division III Championship for four consecutive seasons, and nine times overall -- all since 2000.
John Carroll is 6-7-1 all-time in NCAA play, with its best showing in the 2003 season, when the Blue Streaks made it to the round of 16.
Most recently, the Blue and Gold hosted the opening rounds of the 2018 NCAA Championships. The Blue Streaks defeated Penn State Abington, 4-0, in the opening round before falling 1-0 in double overtime to Penn State-Behrend in the round of 32.
Currently, the Blue Streaks are riding a nine-match win streak, led by junior Will Turrittin with 21 points (5 goals, 11 assists), followed by Mario Aboumitri with 14 points (6 goals, 2 assists), and Jared Ianiro with 12 points (5 goals, 2 assists).Â
Aboumitri scored both goals for the Blue Streaks in the OAC tournament wins against Marietta, (1-0) and Otterbein (1-0).Â
Moreover, the Blue streak defense has allowed just two goals in their last 11 games.Â
Washington & Jefferson College (12-7-2) received an automatic bid into the Division III Championships after winning the Presidents' Athletic Conference for the first time in 12 years, defeating opponent Geneva College, 4-1, in the final matchup on Saturday, November 9. This is the third time Washington & Jefferson will be making an appearance in the NCAA Championships and it will be its first appearance since 2007. Â
The Presidents come into this match on a six-match win streak and are led by four players all with over 20 points. Freshman Dylan Mayanja (24), junior Alvaro Vladas (24), sophomore Michael Komaniak (23) and junior Jake Fettermen (21) have lead the Presidents offensively.
JCU and Washington & Jefferson have played in 20 previous games, with the Blue Streaks holding a 16-3-1 advantage. The last time these two teams faced each other was in the 2005 NCAA postseason in University Heights with John Carroll winning a first round battle, 3-1.Â
Kalamazoo College (11-4-2) earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Championships. Kalamazoo played last against Hope College in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association tournament semifinals on Wed. November 6th. Kalamazoo suffered a 2-0 loss against Hope in the semifinals.Â
The Hornets will be making their seventh appearance in the Division III tournament, where they are 2-6 all-time. This is the first time Kalamazoo has made the tournament since the 2001 season when they fell to Ohio Wesleyan, 3-2, in overtime in the Regional Final. Â
Junior Ben Mesckhe leads the Hornets offense with 29 points (14 goals, 1 assist). No other Hornet has reached double figures this season. Â
Centre College (16-3-1) earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Championship after it won its third consecutive Southern Athletic Association Tournament championship and collected its tenth consecutive win of this season. On Saturday, November 9, Centre defeated Oglethorpe, 4-3, in overtime.
The Colonels will be making their seventh appearance in the NCAA Championships. Centre holds a record of 2-5-1 in NCAA Championship play.Â
The Colonels are lead by fifth year, Alexander Garuba, who was a second team All American last year. This season, he has 46 points (21 goals, 4 assists), and has eight game winning goals for the Colonels. Alongside Garuba are juniors Dylan Barth (8 goals, 3 assists, 19 points) and Will Newton (6 goals, 5 assists, 17 points).Â
This marks the fourth time that John Carroll is serving as an NCAA host for men's soccer (2005, 2017, 2018, 2019). The Blue Streaks are 4-4 as a host team.
