The John Carroll University women's basketball team remains undefeated on their home court after a 71-54, non-conference victory over Case Western Reserve University on Tuesday night in the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.
By the end of the first half, sophomore center
Olivia Nagy lead the Blue Streaks on both sides of the ball with 10 points and 10 rebounds and ended the game with an 18-point, 14-rebound double-double, which matches her season-high in both categories. Junior guard
Dani Carlson led the team with seven assists and also contributed 10 boards, while junior guard/forward
Nicole Heffington added 16 points.
The Blue Streaks opened the scoring and never looked back, outscoring the Spartans 14-3 just over five minutes into the first quarter. After ending the first 10 minutes of play with a 16-11 lead, JCU opened the second quarter with a 10-point run and held the Spartans to just eight points to finish the first half with a 37-19 lead.
John Carroll sealed the deal in the second half, with Nagy paving the way to victory for the Blue Streaks with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Heffington tallied 16 total points on offense and Carlson was responsible for 10 rebounds on defense.
Case began the third quarter with five-straight points, closing the gap to 37-22, but JCU kept a double-digit lead the remainder of the game.
John Carroll moves to 4-1 on the season. They are back in action on Wednesday, December 4 in Alliance, OH for a classic OAC rivalry game against Mount Union.
