In Ada, upsets are hard to come by let alone straight up victories.
It was a tall order for the Blue Streaks to come away with a triumph, but despite a well played second set, the Polar Bears were simply too much Tuesday evening. JCU fell in a quarterfinal round match, 25-12, 25-23, 25-13, to the top seeded hosts.
The second set was the one that was competitive. John Carroll trailed 15-8 but came back to pull within one point at 22-21, 23-22 and 24-23. But Ohio Northern closed out the set and then stormed away with the straight set victory.
Cassi Calamunci had 12 kills to lead JCU's offense, and
Ally Bartolone had 24 assists.
Sarah Calabrese had two of the Blue Streaks' three aces.
John Carroll finishes its season with a record of 19-11. The 19 wins are the most since 2014 when the Blue Streaks won 23 matches.
