John Carroll won two of three doubles matches then five of six singles matches to defeat Oberlin College, 7-2, Saturday afternoon in Oberlin, Ohio.
It was the Blue Streaks first win over the Yeowomen since 2005, which covers a span of nine matches.
Oberlin was ranked #10 in the most recent ITA/Oracle Division III Central Region rankings.
JCU took the lead by winning both at #2 doubles and #3 doubles.Â
Megan Reese and
Skye Harwood defeated Claudia Olaes and Alandria Bellamy, 8-2, in the #2 match, while
Alyssa Krupp and
Carlye Campagna handled Maja Shaw Todorovic and Hannah Keidan, 8-4, at #3.
Lauren O'Malley got the singles victory parade started with a 6-1 6-0 win over Delaney Black, marking her 95th career singles win. Reese and Krupp also won in straight sets at the #3 and #4 spots, respectively. Krupp's win clinched the match.
Madisyn Rini produced a marathon 6-4 1-6 6-3 triumph in the #2 match over Alandria Bellamy. Harwood also won for JCU at #6 singles.
The win, which comes on the heels of a spring break trip that saw the Blue Streaks go 1-3 against Division II and NIAI schools based in Florida, pushed John Carroll's record to 4-3 on the year.
