John Carroll suffered its first shutout loss in over a year when it fell to #10 ranked Carnegie Mellon, 9-0, on Sunday..
The match was moved indoors and played at the Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford, Pennsylvania.
Kenyon was the last team to blank JCU back on March 28, 2018.
Carnegie Mellon won all three doubles matches and then won all six singles matches in straight sets.Â
The big match was played in #1 singles, where CMU's Danna Taylor (ranked #2 in the ITA/Oracle Atlantic South region) outlasted
Lauren O'Malley (ranked #1 in the ITA/Oracle Central region) by a 6-3 6-3 count. It was the same score O'Malley beat Taylor by in September in the Kenyon Invitational.
Megan Reese also played well at #2 singles. She faced Jamie Vizelman, the #13 ranked player in the Central region, and lost 6-3 6-3. She had a 3-0 lead in the second set before falling.
JCU is now 11-5 overall through 16 matches. The Carnegie Mellon match represented the last non-conference opponent on the schedule.
