A tough stretch of the season got even tougher as the John Carroll Blue Streaks dropped both games on Sunday afternoon to the Wooster Fighting Scots.
Wooster came into the day leading the NCAC with a 2-0 conference record and is now 15-7 on the year. John Carroll falls to 10-16 on the year and has suffered eight losses in a row.Â
Game 1
Things got off to a tough start for John Carroll. A pitcher's duel through the first three innings saw Wooster only get one hit off of John Carroll's Jess Cook while the Blue Streaks only pushed through two hits.
The bottom of the third would give way to the shutout as Wooster lit up the scoreboard for three runs. The inning got going with a Torrey Totman double to left center and she was sent around to score on a Kendall Lloyd RBI single. Later in the inning, an error allowed Wooster to get across two more runs in the inning and they held a secure 3-0 lead.

In the bottom of the 6th the Fighting Scots tacked on one insurance run when freshman Molly Likins connected on a fast ball and sent it over the fence in center field to extend the lead to 4-0. They would add three more hits in the inning but would not score any more runs.
The Blue Streaks were just unable to have the big hit or the big inning. They scattered five hits throughout the entire game and Elizabeth Frass was the lone bright spot for JCU going 2-3 with two singles. Only one Blue Streak was able to advance into scoring position.
Cook started the game going three innings giving up three runs only one earned on five hits. Freshman
Alee Burke came in in relief and gave a strong three innings before giving up the 6th inning homerun. Finishing the game in the circle was senior
Elizabeth O'Grady where she faced one batter and gave up no damage.
Game 2
John Carroll got things going early in game two by getting one run across in the first inning.
Quinn Sobieszczanski took advantage of being in the leadoff spot starting the game with a four pitch walk. That was followed by a
Lindsay McKnight walk to put runners on second and third. Sobiezczanski used her speed to score on a Wooster error to put the Blue Streaks up 1-0.
Wooster would respond in a big way. In the bottom of the second, Maria Roski sent a lined shot over the left field fence to tie things up at one. They would not stop there as a single and a triple by Emmalee Cooke would give the Fighting Scots the lead. Wooster would continue to score as a pop up was sent to center field and
Sydney Hall lost her footing allowing another Wooster run to score and they lead 3-1 after two innings.
Things began to get out of hand in the 4th inning when the Fighting Scots sent in 11 batters to the plate scoring five runs to take a commanding 8-1 lead. From there the Blue Streaks would go quietly, unable to get any runs across and game two ended in five innings by a final score of 10-1.

Up next for John Carroll is a trip to Tiffin for an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader with Heidelberg on Wednesday, April 10.
