Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Amazing Rally Late In Regulation Leads To Draw At Allegheny For JCU Women's Soccer

Admittedly, being down 2-0 in the final ten minutes of a soccer match is not an ideal place for a team to find itself.

But the widely accepted adage in the sport that a two-goal lead is dangerous played out Wednesday in Meadville. John Carroll's Grace Monnin scored in the 84th minute, and then again with just 19 ticks left in regulation to force overtime against host Allegheny. The match would end up as a 2-2 draw.

Monnin did not start tonight's contest, but she sure finished it.

Allegheny had built a 2-0 lead taks to a first half goal by Amy Barra in the fifth minute of play, then increased the lead to two when Bryanna Urso scored in the 54th minute. Both goals were assisted by Alex Klare.

JCU had held the shots advantage all night, but did not break through until Monnin scored at the 83:29 mark on an assist by Rachel Braunegg.

It would take a goal at the 89:41 mark to draw even. Jaclyn Audino moved into a tie for third place all-time at John Carroll with her 21st career assist.

In the overtime periods, Allegheny had four shots to John Carroll's one. Mackenzie Stease made two of her five saves in the final three minutes of the second overtime period.

JCU finished with a 16-14 shots advantage for the match as it moved to 3-2-1 on the year. Allegheny is now 2-1-3.
