Blue Streaks Find Their Groove In Second Half To Run Past Quakers

Despite trailing the Quakers in the first quarter, a collective team effort and a shift in momentum stuck with the Blue Streaks throughout the second half, allowing the Blue and Gold to leave Wilmington with another conference win on Saturday afternoon.

John Carroll took an early four point lead in the first two minutes of play, but could not keep up with the Quakers, who lead by six halfway through the first quarter.

Wilmington maintained a steady lead throughout the remainder of the first quarter, but the momentum began to shift in favor of the Blue Streaks toward the end of the half. Five points from Nicole Heffington, followed by back-to-back layups from Jaleyn Hoffman tied the game up at 32 with under two minutes to play in the half. With 14 seconds remaining, John Carroll pulled ahead of Wilmington to make the score 38-35 at halftime.

The Blue Streaks carried their positive momentum into the final 20 minutes. In the third quarter, John Carroll lead Wilmington by as much as 12. The Blue Streaks sealed the deal in the fourth quarter, increasing their lead over the Quakers to 20. Despite Wilmington's best effort to fight back, John Carroll defeated the Quakers 90-72.

Olivia Nagy lead the way for the Blue Streaks with a double-double, tallying 24 points and 11 rebounds. Heffington followed behind closely, scoring 21 points and 4 rebounds. Dani Carlson contributed 14 points and five rebounds, while Abby Adler contributed an additional five rebounds while shooting 5-5 from the field for 12 points.
