The Blue Streaks touched down in University Heights late last night, after their annual week-long training trip to Florida. Preparing for this meet and those to come this season all week long, John Carroll was hoping that tonight, history would repeat itself.

In the last meeting between the Knights and the Blue Streaks, the Streaks were victorious, beating the Knights, 132-98 in Erie, Pennsylvania. Soaking up vitamin D and being in nicer weather than Erie and Cleveland combined ensured that the Streaks would be ready for the Knights.

And ready they were. John Carroll became victorious over Gannon, winning tonight's meet 146-93.

Results

To show their opponents that there is indeed no rest for the weary, the "A" quartet, consisting of Maddie Panus, Tori Vale, Gwyn Ledrick, and Ashley Lynch, achieved first place in the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 4:05.79 to start the meet.

Junior Paige Wnek took first place in the 1000 Free with a time of 11:29.08, coming in a full 19 seconds before freshman teammate, Lauren Spence at 11:48.95, who placed second. Freshman Ashley Lynch took first as well in the 200 Free with a time of 2:04.44.

The 50 Freestyle was one of the few races of the night that JCU did not take first in. Gwyneth Hamilton came in second behind Gannon University's own Zoe Snyder. Shortly after, Junior Gwyn Ledrick took home the 200 IM with a time of 2:12.13.

The Streaks took over the 200 Fly, the 200 Backstroke, and the 500 Free, by claiming both the first and second places in all three of events. For the 200 Fly, Ynyra Bohan (2:20.62) and Emily Yoos (2:22.49), the 200 Backstroke, Spenser Kale (2:15.83) and Maddie Panus (2:18.51) and for the 500 Free, Maddie Dolce (5:32.77) and Paige Wnek (5:37.60).

The women brought the meet home, winning one of the two final events of the night. Ledrick took first in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:26.72 to increase the lead on the Knights. Team-A for the Blue Streaks finished the night touching second in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay.

With this win, the Blue Streaks now move to 3-1 on the season. John Carroll will next take on the Yellow Jackets of Baldwin Wallace University at 1:00 pm back in University Heights next Saturday, January 18th.
