Gwyn Ledrick Wins Seven Times In Picking Up Second Career OAC Women's Swimmer Of The Year Honor

Gwyn Ledrick earned OAC Women's Swimmer of the Year for the second time in 2020
Junior All-American Gwyn Ledrick was a perfect seven-for-seven in her events this weekend to claim her second career Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Year award, helping the Blue Streaks to their fourth consecutive OAC Championship victory.

This was the second consecutive year in which Ledrick won the honor. Ledrick's award marks the 16th time a Blue Streak has received the OAC Women's Swimmer of the Year prize.

Ledrick successfully defender her 200 Im title Thursday night, setting a school and OAC record with a time of 2.05.21.That time ranks 19th in Division III.

In the final event of the night, Maddie Panus, Ledrick, Tori Vale, and Ashley Lynch touched first in the 400 Medley Relay in 3:54.07, just missing the OAC and John Carroll record of 3:53.66, set in 2018.

On Friday, John Carroll began the night on Friday by winning the 200 Medley Relay. Ledrick was the anchor of a quartet that included Panus, Monica McKie and Rachel Halapchuk and posted a time of 1:46.05. It was less than a half second off the school record.

In the 400 IM, Ledrick claimed another OAC title and conference record with a time of 4:28.34. Her time was also good enough to qualify her for the NCAA "B" cut, ranking 24th in Division III.

Rounding out day two was the 800 Free Relay, where Ledrick led off, and was followed by Hope Scherger, Maddie Dolce and Lynch. The Blue Streaks foursome asserted their dominance by taking home the OAC title with a winning time and school record of 7:49.95.

On the final day, Ledrick won the 200 Breast with a time of 2:19.30, less than a second off her best time which was 2:18.56 set at the Gail Mobb Pebworth Invitational in November. That time ranks her 11th in Division III.

The final race of the weekend was the 400 Free Relay, in which Ledrick, Scherger, Lynch and Panus claimed gold with a time of 3:32.86. The Blue Streaks swept the five women's relays in the OAC Championships.

Ledrick is now a 21-time All-OAC swimmer and a 20-time champion. The only race she did not win was the 200 IM as a freshman, in which she finished second.

John Carroll University posted an OAC record 974.5 points, followed by Mount Union at 594, Baldwin Wallace at 566.5, Ohio Northern at 492 and Wilmington at 293. In addition to this being John Carroll's fourth consecutive crown, it is the Blue Streaks' 20th title overall as a program
