Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio -- A hat trick highlighted Wednesday evening's match, but the hats were not flying for the Blue Streaks.

Mount Union's Andrea Decker fired in three goals to lead the Purple Raiders to a 3-0 win over John Carroll University Women's Soccer in Alliance.

The Blue Streaks entered the match with momentum after a 3-0 win over Muskingum in the Ohio Athletic Conference opener on Saturday. But the road was not kind on Wednesday, as Mount Union handed JCU its first conference defeat of the fall.

The Purple Raiders got out to a strong start at home. Mount Union burst out with energy on offense, with a few opportunities. In the 10th minute, the Purple Raiders earned a penalty kick, but thankfully the chance did not end in a goal.

However, the Purple Raiders did break through not long after. In the 19th minute, Andrea Decker slotted a goal into the lower left corner of the net. Molly Eubanks provided the assist for Mount Union.

In the 27th minute, the Blue Streaks tabbed their first shot. Brittany Dufalla hit a ball towards the lower corner, but Mount Union's keeper was up to the task.

A couple minutes later, the Blue Streaks tested the Mount Union keeper again lower left, this time Gabriella Walter did so with a shot on goal. But on this occasion, the Purple Raiders brought a rapid counterattack.

Decker struck again in the 31st minute. This time, she slotted it lower left. Madison Pepper tallied the assist.

Decker kept working, tallying a shot in the 36th minute, but Danielle DelGiudice provided the save this time.

At halftime, the Purple Raiders continued to own a 2-0 advantage.

The Blue Streaks looked to get back into it in the second half. Dufalla struck a ball on goal, but could not break through for the marker. Mount Union, however, would do so again.

Once more, it was Decker as the Blue Streaks' Achilles heel, as the Purple Raider scored her third of the day. This goal came in the 69th minute off a Kassity Miller assist on a shot to the top left corner.

Mount Union continued to pressure John Carroll, as DelGiudice turned away a couple shots. The JCU offense looked to get on the board, but could not manage to break down the door.

The Purple Raiders managed to preserve the clean sheet, despite only an 11-9 margin in shots and a 6-3 margin in shots on goal.

With the defeat, JCU falls to 6-5-1 overall, including 1-1 against OAC foes.

Next up is a home match vs. Capital on Saturday at 1 pm at Don Shula Stadium.
