UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- The Blue Streaks got another commanding victory on Friday, as the John Carroll University Women's Swimming & Diving team beat the Wilmington College Quakers 168-58 in the William H. Johnson Natatorium. Head Coach Tanner Barton earned his first win at home, and he is yet to lose a meet, as the Streaks are 3-0 on the season.

"Tonight's meet against Wilmington was a great way to kick off the busy weekend," Barton said. "I am very proud of how well our women raced."

The day started off with the 200 Medley Relay, where the A team for the Blue Streaks won the race with a time of 1:53.30. The team consists of Spencer Kale, Gwyn Ledrick, Tori, Vale, and Gwyneth Hamilton. The Blue Streaks B and C relays came in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Following the 200 Medley Relay was the 1000 Free, which was won by Lauren Spence (11:48.83) who came in second last weekend at Baldwin Wallace. Notching a second-place effort was Emma Thompson from Wilmington (12:10.30), and third for John Carroll was Annamarie Habusta (12:16.19).

Paige Wnek (2:03.34), Hope Scherger (2:03.40), and Kylea Gaydos (2:09.38) had a clean sweep in the 200 Free.

Anna Glass, and Gwyneth Hamilton tied in the 50 Free with a time of 25.73. Maddie Panus came in third with a time of 26.30.

Gwyn Ledrick won two races on her own today, winning in the 200 IM (2:13.24), and the 100 Breast (1:07.00).

Ynyra Bohan was just like her teammate Ledrick, winning two races on the day, as well. She won the 100 Fly (1:01.17) and the 500 Free (5:33.59).

Catherine Steinwachs won the 1M diving with a score of 193.25 and also took care of business in the 3M diving with a tally of 164.25

In the 100 Free, the Blue Streaks produced another 1,2,3 finish. Anna Glass won (56.12), with Ashley Lynch coming in second (56.22), and Hope Scherger in third (56.85) in an extremely close race.

Macki Leon, who put up an extremely strong day for Wilmington, won the 100 Back (1:03.55), with Maddie Panus (1:03.55), and Spencer Kale (1:05.77) coming in second and third.

To finish the day, the Blue Streaks' A relay won the 400 Free Relay with a time of 3:47.65. The A team consists of Gwyneth, Hamilton, Ashley Lynch, Anna Glass, and Hope Scherger

After the victory, Barton reflected on the home opener.

"The women made sure the energy was high in Johnson Natatorium and it was obvious that they were having fun while competing at home," Barton said. "In swimming and diving, the athletes thrive when they're having fun, and that's exactly what happened this evening."

The Blue Streaks finish their regular season schedule against the Ohio Northern Polar Bears in the William H. Johnson Natatorium on Saturday, Feb. 20.
