Men's Lacrosse Upended by Baldwin Wallace on the Road

BEREA, Ohio -- The John Carroll University Men's Lacrosse team traveled down to Berea, Ohio to take on crosstown rivals, the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets, on Saturday, March 6.

In a hard-fought affair, the Blue Streaks lost on Saturday afternoon, 10-9.

In a quick start by the Yellow Jackets, Nick Nanosky found the back of the net for his first goal of the season. Swift retaliation followed with a Blue Streak goal by Bennett Gorman not even a minute later.

By the end of the first quarter, the Blue and Gold tallied two more goals, from Cam Cecere and Skyler Blake, while BW added another one to their score.

John Carroll won the faceoff starting the second quarter, which prompted a quick score from Kevin Hack. The Blue Streaks outscored Baldwin Wallace 4-2 in the second quarter, making the halftime score 7-4.

The Yellow Jackets gained momentum in the third quarter, outscoring the Blue Streaks, 3-1. Two of BW's goals came in the final minutes of the quarter. Brendan Whitty was the singular scorer for John Carroll, protecting the 1-goal lead.

Baldwin Wallace goalie Joe Storner, being suffocated by back to back Blue Streaks shot attempts, showed his athletic ability shielding the goal. After eight missed team shots in the fourth quarter, Josh Plarr was finally able to finish, putting John Carroll up by two.

Three fast goals from Trevor Stevens, Gunner MacMillian, and Zakary Kroeger of Baldwin Wallace would be enough to take the lead from the Blue and Gold. John Carroll did not get another shot attempt for the rest of the match.

The Blue Streaks fell to the Yellow Jackets in a tough competition by a score of 10-9, dropping their overall record to 1-1.

John Carroll will look to bounce back next Saturday, March 13 at 1 p.m. as they travel to Columbus to take on Capital University.
