Men's Track & Field Earns 2nd in Alliance Highlighted by 4x100

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- It was a humid day in Alliance, as the John Carroll University Men's Track & Field team traveled to the University of Mount Union, where they competed against Otterbein, Mount Union, Muskingum, and Capital for the fourth meet of the outdoor season.

In the men's sprinting events, sophomore Mick Doyle would finish second in the 100m dash with a time of 11.09 sec, followed by freshman Jimmy Kartsonas placing fourth with a time of 11.17 sec, and senior Bobby Fogle placed sixth in the race with a time of 11.29 sec.

In the 4x100m relay, the team of junior Garrett Clark, Doyle, junior Mark Zahren, and senior Deven Ward would win the event and that time placed them first in the country. Clark (21.52 sec) and Ward (21.60 sec) would come back and place first and second in the 200m race. Zahren also would come back finishing third with a time of 22.28 sec to put himself in the mix.

Moving on to the distance side, freshman Ethan Domitrovich would win his first collegiate race in the 1500m with a time of 4:04.99. Freshman John Shoemaker would place fifth with a time of 4:16.04. In the 800m run, junior Gabe Ernest would post a huge personal best of 1:56.42, placing fifth. Not too far behind was junior Pat White placing sixth with a time of 1:57.09.

With the field events, freshman Willis Goodwin would place fourth with a mark of 6.55m. Senior Joe McNulty placed fourth in the shot put with a mark of 12.82m and sophomore Zach Szafarski would throw a mark of 12.55m placing sixth. Senior Jacob Fritsch made his appearance in the javelin throw, placing second with a mark of 52.52m to help the Blue Streaks round up the scoring.

The men will compete next Saturday, April 17 at the OAC Elite Meet, hosted by Otterbein University in Westerville, OH, going up against every school in the conference.
