BEREA, Ohio -- The Ohio Athletic Conference Championships are in the rearview mirror, so the John Carroll University Men's Track & Field squad has its sights set on the NCAA Division III Championships.

In the Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet on Friday evening, the Blue Streaks looked pretty good.

No team results were taken, but only individual results matter in meets like these. And the Blue Streaks tabbed several impressive individual results. With the top 17 national times clinching a spot to the NCAA Championships, the Blue Streaks had their eyes on the prize today.

Chief among the top results was the 1500m for the Blue Streaks. Ian Pierson carved out a time of 3:49.64, which is excellent. That time pushes him to fourth in the country in the event, locking down a spot in the upcoming national meet. Pierson set a stadium record in the process, but so did Cal Yackin of Otterbein, who edged him by .42 seconds. Still, Pierson's time is awesome.

All season long, Garrett Clark and Deven Ward have competed in the 100m. The duo finished 1-2 at the OAC Championships, with Clark barely in the lead. Today, the roles were reversed, with Ward capturing the top slot with a red-hot time of 10.54. Clark finished behind him at 10.57, which now rank second and fifth in the country. Those times have them looking good for a trip to North Carolina in the last week of May. Mark Zahren (10.99), Mick Doyle (11.02), Cameron Klauke (11.15), and Jimmy Kartsonas (11.24) also raced in the event.

Ward and Klauke also raced in the 200m. Ward notched a third-place time of 21.83 and Klauke clinched a fourth-place time of 22.48.

Several Blue Streaks took part in the 800m: Gabe Ernest (1:54.45), Caleb Correia (1:55.94), Joe Backus (2:00.03), Jamie Dailey (2:01.62), Ryan Kiley (2:04.26), Connor McIntyre (2:06.50), and Adam Shah (2:11.76). In the 5000m, Sam Coe (15:53.17), James Mangan (16:10.25), and Carson Shipley (16:45.15) all raced for the Blue and Gold.

Zach Gerber raced in the 110m Hurdles for the Blue Streaks, and did well. The junior placed fifth with a time of 15.23.

Clark, Doyle, Zahren, and Ward combined to race in the 4x100, looking to improve upon their previous time of 41.28, which ranks 11th in the nation. The quartet didn't better it, but they came close with a time of 41.37.

Gerber, Klauke, Anton Peregoncev, and Willis Goodwin combined in the 4x400. The foursome finished with a time of 3:43.10. Goodwin also did the Triple Jump, hopping to 12.88m for third.

Joe McNulty entered the Shot Put and did solidly with a throw of 13.60m. Zach Szafarski and Noah Schroeder each did the Hammer Throw, putting up respective tosses of 49.68m and 42.23m. Jacob Fritsch won the Javelin Throw with a heave of 55.98m. Szafarski also took part in the event with a throw of 45.96.

The final meet of the regular season in preparation for Nationals will be on Wednesday at Mount Union.
