#10 Baldwin Wallace Defeats Women's Basketball in Berea

BEREA, Ohio -- The John Carroll Women's Basketball team fell to 8-8 after a tough loss to the #10 Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets on Wednesday night.

John Carroll dropped an 81-60 loss to a tough BW team at Ursprung Gymnasium.

The Blue Streaks stumbled out of the gate and failed to convert on a single-field goal attempt in the first quarter. The only points scored by the Blue & Gold came via free throws by Jaylen Hoffmann and Kaelyn Underwood.

John Carroll found themselves in an 18-3 hole after the first quarter.

The Blue Streaks and the Yellow Jackets played a nearly even game throughout the remainder of the contest. In the following three quarters, the Yellow Jackets only outscored the Blue Streaks 63-57.

Unfortunately for Beth Andrews' squad, the Blue Streaks were unable to close the deficit. Throughout the entirety of the game, it was one step forward and one step back for John Carroll. Whenever the Blue Streaks found some momentum on offense, the Yellow Jackets were quick to snuff out JCU's runs.

The OAC matchup was defined by dominance in the paint by Baldwin Wallace. The Yellow Jackets scored 46 points in the paint compared to the 22 scored by the Blue Streaks. Bella Vaillant led the way in this category with 14 points, all inside the paint.

Underwood poured in 14 points for John Carroll. Hoffmann added 8 points and 3 rebounds. Bella Carciopollo contributed 7 points and 6 rebounds. Carmen Heuker led the team in minutes with 34 on the evening.

After a tough loss in Berea, the Blue Streaks have now dropped their last four games. JCU will look to get back to their winning ways against the Muskingum Fighting Muskies this Saturday. Tip-off in New Concord is slated for 4 pm.
