Construction Update for JCU Basketball Games

| By:
Construction will impact home basketball games.
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS -- Beginning on Wednesday, December 20, construction will be taking place outside of the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.

The construction will take place outside of the DeCarlo doors that lead to South Belvoir. Crews will be installing the sanitary line for the Athletics, Wellness, and Events Center. Construction will likely last until students are back on campus.

Below are three documents. The first document shows the road closure plan of the southbound lane on South Belvoir Blvd. The second shows how fans will be able to enter the building from South Belvoir during this time. Page one of this document has the Blue Plan and page two has the Red Plan.

Road Closure Plan
Pedestrian Safety Plan
No-Stair Entry to DeCarlo

The Blue Plan will impact the December 30 and January 3 games. The ramp must be taken to enter DeCarlo.
The Red Plan will impact the January 6 and January 10 games. The stairs must be taken to enter DeCarlo.

In both cases, the South Belvoir road going from Washington to the light will be shut down (see Road Closure map). That means that the buses will need go around campus and come from the Carroll side of South Belvoir and drop the student-athletes off and then they walk across the street rather than being dropped off right in front of the entry. The one side of the road will be closed due to crane/digging equipment, materials, safety, and etc.

Additionally, accommodations will be made anyone who cannot use the stairs to enter the building from South Belvoir. During the Red Plan, the ramp will be shut down. Folks needing a ramp are to be directed to the drop off location by the Student Health Center. From there, fans can enter the building through the Atrium and take the elevator wherever they need to go.

We apologize for any inconvenience. Questions can be directed to athletics@jcu.edu. Thank you!
