Men's Swimming & Diving Drops First Dual of the Year to D-II Findlay

The Blue Streaks showcased a strong effort against the Oilers in defeat.
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS -- Hoping to tally another win before students leave for the holidays, The Blue Streaks faced a non-conference and challenging team in the University of Findlay Oilers. The highly ranked Division II Oilers traveled to University Heights and showed they were a force to be reckoned with, but John Carroll Men's Swimming & Diving did not take that lightly. 

The competition was fierce, but the away team ended on top.

Opening the night with the 200 Yard Medley Relay, the whole team put in a strong effort to earn second and third place in the race. Luke Novak, Joe Nadur, Forrest Campbell, and Daniel Argalious finished the race second with 1:36.50. Owen Holm, Don Falcon, Bart Kubis, and Patrick Branch finished at 1:36.08 in third. 

Findlay swept the 1650 yard Freestyle, taking all three podium spots in the longest race of the night. JCU bounced back with Joe Nadur taking third in the 200 Free with a time of 1:45.80. 

Luke Novak placed third in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 54.58. In the 100 Breaststroke, JCU picked up a few more points with Bart Kubis's second place finish with a time of 59.45. Findlay took all three top spots in the 200 Butterfly, but JCU came back in the 50 Free, winning first and second. Daniel Argalious took first with 21.50 and Bryce Liddell followed right behind with a mark of 21.97. 

For the men's diving, Jacob Clark took first with a score of 141.30 on the one meter. Clay Bozsvai dove into second with a 114.00,  and Andrew Chiappetta got third with 86.60. 

Jumping back into races from the break with the 100 Free, Owen Holm took third with 49.01. In the 200 Back, Luke Novak placed second at 2:01.95 and Jacob Clark joined him on the podium in third with 2:04.07. Two more podium finishes came for the home team in the 200 Breast with a second place finish from Joe Nadur in 2:09.40, and third place for Bart Kubis at 2:16.73. 

Another second and third place duo came in the 500 freestyle with Aidan O'Neill taking second at 5:07.76 and Aidan Husleman in third at 5:11.57. Blue Streaks ended in the same positions in the 100 Fly. Bryce Liddell clocked at 52.02 in second and Daniel Argalious touched the wall at 53.34 in third. 

The last two races of the night kicked off with the 200 Individual Medley, Joe Nadur took the middle spot on the podium with a 1:55.81. In the last race, Daniel Argalious, Forrest Campbell, Bryce Liddell, and Owen Holm ended with a 1:25.97, which earned them second place in the 200 Free relay. 

The meet ended with the Blue Streaks first loss of the season with a score of 183-104 in favor of Findlay. The Blue Streaks will next swim on the road at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY on January 13. JCU's next home meet will be on Saturday, January 20 against Heidelberg University.
