Women's Tennis Loses Regular Season Finale at Otterbein

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – After John Carroll ruled the roost in Ohio Athletic Conference women's tennis for many moons, Otterbein University has ascended to the throne.

The Cardinals dealt the Blue Streaks a 7-2 defeat on Friday in Westerville.

The defeat drops the Blue Streaks to 5-11 following the regular season finale, with a 5-2 mark in OAC play.

The Blue Streaks got behind the eight-ball due to a doubles sweep, though all were close matches. Mia Zivkovic and Felicity Kolb dropped an 8-4 defeat at #1 doubles, while Kaylyn Gimbel and Caroline Chandler lost by a similar score at #2 doubles. Peyton Crumpler and Emma Boreman won one more game at #3 but still lost a hard-fought affair.

Zivkovic dropped a rare loss to Otterbein's Erin Storrer, one of the conference's best players. Felicity Kolb also lost at #2 singles.

Gimbel managed to pull off a win at #3 singles, winning 7-6 in the opening set thanks to a dramatic 10-5 tiebreaker, and then taking the contest with a 6-1 conquest in set two.

Caroline Chandler also found herself in a slugfest at #4, but dropped a 5-7, 1-6 decision. Emma Boreman lost a quicker match at #6.

Peyton Crumpler tallied JCU's other victory at #5. The Canton native snagged a 6-2, 6-4 conquest to set the final score.

Currently, the Blue Streaks hold the #3 seed in the conference, so the Blue & Gold will likely host the #6 seed on Tuesday in the OAC Quarterfinal. Stay tuned for further information.
