Murlin, Deren, Kavenagh, Kolb, and Smith Rep JCU Tennis on CSC Academic All-District Team

JCU Women's Tennis notched the max of four student-athletes while JCU Men's Tennis added an honoree

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS — The College Sports Communicators have released their Academic All-District team for Tennis, with an impressive five Blue Streaks selected for the honor.

Evelyn Deren, Maddie Kavenagh, Felicity Kolb, and Emma Smith for JCU Women's Tennis were all chosen on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. Dylan Murlin reps JCU Men's Tennis on the CSC squad.

Junior standout Evelyn Deren had an exceptional season for the Blue Streaks. She finished with a singles 11-6 record and a 9-6 doubles record. The Accounting and Finance major has excelled in the classroom as this marks her second straight year on the team. Deren also tabbed Second Team All-NCAC honors.

Maddie Kavenagh is being honored after a strong season with the Blue Streaks. The Akron native finished this season with a singles record of 6-9 and a doubles record of 9-6, garnering First Team All-NCAC recognition. The junior Exercise Science major buckled down this year, earning her a spot on the CSC Academic All-District team for the second straight time. 

Felicity Kolb has had an amazing final season with the Blue Streaks. The Batavia, Illinois native finished her career with a 9-5 singles record and a 3-2 doubles record. The Chemistry major shined in the classroom, making the Academic All-District cut for a third straight year as a senior.

Emma Smith worked hard all year and finished on a high note. The Bethel Park, Pennsylvania native finished the year with a singles record of 10-5 and a doubles record of 1-3. The Nursing major makes the grade in her first year eligible for CSC honors as a sophomore.

Dylan Murlin finished his first season on the JCU Men's Tennis team with a bang. The Hilliard native finished the season with a 6-8 singles record and a 7-7 doubles record, earning NCAC Athlete of the Week honors along the way. The Finance major worked hard in the classroom to earn a spot on the CSC team in his first time eligible for the award.
