Women's Tennis Concludes Campaign in the OAC Tournament Semifinal

MASON, Ohio – The journey has concluded for the 2022-23 John Carroll Women's Tennis team.

The Blue Streaks lost in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinal on Friday evening to conclude the season.

The Blue & Gold conclude the season with a 6-12 record after today's defeat to Ohio Northern at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.

Doubles play opened with the Polar Bears earning two of three victories. Kaylyn Gimbel and Jaclyn Voss suffered the first loss at #2 doubles, 8-2. And then a spirited #3 doubles match resulted in a loss as well, despite the best efforts of Caroline Chandler and Peyton Crumpler in a narrow 8-6 defeat.

Mia Zivkovic, the OAC April Scholar of the Month, paired with Felicity Kolb at #1 doubles. In the final doubles contest to be decided, the formidable duo showcases their talents well. The strong duo conquered their foes for an 8-6 win to salvage doubles, 2-1.

Unfortunately, the Polar Bears fired through singles. The #5 singles match was decided first, as Voss experienced an 0-6, 1-6 defeat. Shortly thereafter, Crumpler dropped a 1-6, 1-6 loss, and ONU had JCU on the ropes with a 4-1 lead. The #3 singles spot then concluded the match.

Zivkovic capped off her career on a high note with the doubles win, and held a 6-2, 4-3 lead  at #1 singles when the match concluded. The Broadview Heights native is graduating a year early to attend medical school after three seasons, including two All-OAC campaigns plus an Academic All-OAC selection with a 3.96 GPA as a biology major.

Emily Duckett, Anna Vitale, and Voss are all members of the vaunted senior class. But as they pass the baton to a talent core of underclassmen in Kolb, Chandler, Crumpler, and Boreman, the future remains bright.
