Men's Golf Competes in BW Fall Invite on Sunday

HINCKLEY, Ohio – While rain drizzled downtown and the Cleveland Browns dominated the Bengals, John Carroll Men's Golf got a round in.

The Blue Streaks participated in the Baldwin Wallace Fall Invitational on Sunday afternoon, at Pine Hills Golf Course in Hinckley.

John Carroll "A" finished with a team score of 306 to tie for sixth as a team, made up of Kamden Mowry, Jacob Hazen, London Hoyser, Jack Gerborg, and Justin VonLehmden. Meanwhile John Carroll "B" finished with a team score of 305, composed of Wade Boyle, Zach Brinks, Grant Lumley, Carson Meyer, and Austin Malley.

The Blue Streaks were led by a different freshman than last week, as Kamden Mowry took his turn leading the program this week. The first-year Blue Streak carded the team's best tally of the day, with a wonderful score of 71 (-1). His strong score steered him to a tie for third place in a field of 93.

Wade Boyle registered the second-best score for John Carroll, tabbing a 75 (+3) to tie for 15th. Zach Brinks and Grant Lumley also finished in the top 20, at one stroke more of 76 (+4). 

Jacob Hazen, London Hoyser, and Carson Meyer tied, with all recording a 78 for the day. Jack Gerborg and Justy VonLehmden each finished with a 79. Austin Malley rounded things out with an 80.

Looking at the field, Ohio Wesleyan won with a round of 295 (+7) in a field of ten teams. JCU beat out three OAC teams for the event, composed of 8 OAC schools and 2 NCAC schools.

JCU returns to the course on Saturday, September 16 for the Battle of the Cuyahoga vs. Baldwin Wallace at Highland GC while the Blue Streaks and Yellow Jackets meet on the football field.
